Show: Evita

Next week Stoke Youth are performing Evita at The Rep in Stoke, my good wife Laura Foxcroft is MD. Three keys, programmed by yours truly, using the new MainStage and Garritan Personal Orchestra! Superb. Opens Tuesday 19th, and runs to the 23rd with a matinee on the Saturday. The company are absolutely fabulous, so should be a good one.

Also, they’ve put the curtain calls and exit music in so you don’t get that sombre slit-your-wrists ending you do on the West End. :-)

Show: Me and My Girl

From the 22nd to the 26th October you will find me, for the first time, in the pit of the Lyceum theatre in Crewe, pretending to be half an orchestra on K2 for Me and My Girl. Seriously, this is the most complicated Mainstage plot I’ve ever done - but have used the gig as an excuse to invest in Garritan sound samples, so listen out for that bass clarinet!

Show: Sweeney Todd

Thanks to my friend and MD William Moss for inviting me along to play the Organ pad for Sweeney next week - July 17th and 18th. It’s just a shame it’s only two shows, cos it’s a stunning show, and I know some of the cast and they are out of this world.

Show: Footloose

Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th July you’ll find me on Keys 1 for Footloose, another stunning show by MYTS in Stafford. The MD is my wife, Laura Foxcroft, and it’s directed by David Reynolds - the team who have produced the last 3 shows from MYTS. Joining them this year is Katie Raye, as choreographer.

As well as playing K1 I’ve also done the programming for K2, which has the record for most number of patches ever - 145! Thank God for Mainstage!

Show: Bad Girls

Tuesday 28th May I’ve been booked as K2 for Bad Girls, my second booking by Five Towns Theatre - I’ve not actually seen this one before, so could be interesting. The pad is full of really interesting synth sounds and pads. Listening to the original soundtrack I reckon they used Mainstage for a lot of the sounds, as I’m managing to damn near replicate the originals - should be a blast!

Show: 13

Next week I’m on K1 for 13, for Five Towns Theatre - Directed and MD’d by Keith Ragdale. He was MD for the NODA nominated Les Misérables for Stoke Youth last year. It’s a fantastic score by Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Songs For a New World) - quite challenging, but really looking forward to it.

Show: Me and My Girl

image

My next booking is Me & My Girl, for Stafford Operatic Society, at The Gatehouse Theatre in Stafford. The MD is Bill Moss, and the director is Michael Carthy. This is the full orchestration, so mainly I’ll be on piano, though I believe there’s some Harp in there too (always fun trying to do dim7 glisses on a keyboard).
